About

Made on set, by someone who sits behind the monitors.

the abby. started as one video assist operator's own tool: built between setups, tested on real jobs, and fixed the moment something got in the way.

Video assist is a job of seconds. The director wants the last take now, script needs the one from before lunch, and the camera rolls again before anyone says so. The tools for it tend to be expensive, complicated, or both.

the abby. is the opposite. It does the everyday work of the video village on one Mac, with one key for each thing you do all day, and it gets out of the way the rest of the time.

It's named for the Abby Singer: the second-to-last shot of the day, when everyone can see the finish line. confirm name story

What we care about

Four promises.

Never lose a take

the abby. won't quit while a take is recording or saving. A missing drive falls back to the Mac, with a warning, so the recording still happens.

The operator decides

Crew can ask for a take, but nothing plays on set until you approve it. Every device that watches has to be let in by you.

Works without internet

Licenses are checked on the Mac. Crew monitors use the set network. A dead connection on location changes nothing.

Pay for the days you work

Rent by the day, week or month, the way jobs are booked. Abby Monitor, the crew app, is always free.

Want to try it on your next job?

The first day is free on your own Mac and hardware.
